Blue bin recycling in Pocklington area up by 12%

Residents in the Pocklington area increased the amount they recycled in their blue bins by 12% in May compared to the same month last year.

Residents in the area, which includes Stamford Bridge and Market Weighton, put 250 tonnes of glass, paper, plastics, cans and Tetra Pak food and drink cartons in their blue recycling bins.

They also reduced the amount sent to landfill from their green bins by 11%.

Across the East Riding, residents recycled 60% of their waste during May, the highest rate ever achieved and putting them among the UKs top recyclers.

The recycling rate for the same month last year was 56%.
