Emu caught after making break for freedom in village

An emu which made a break a freedom in Holme-on-Spalding Moor has been caught.

The emu, which is reportedly called ‘Sharon’, managed to escape last night (23 April) in the village.

It was caught by its owner this morning (24 April) and safely transported back to its home.

Humberside Police was alerted but did not deploy officers to locate the missing bird.

A Humberside Police said: “Police were made aware of the emu escaping and Twitter messages were shared making the wider public aware.”

Emus are able to reach speeds of 31mph.
