The Pocklington Prep School choir entered four classes at the Pontefract Music Festival this year and gained a distinction in every single class.

In the hymn and sacred song class they sang ‘Procession’ in three parts and “O What a Wonderful Scene” from “Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo”.

The judge complimented the choir’s clear diction, good timing and togetherness in all the rests, pauses and tempo changes and awarded them first place.

In the traditional and modern class, small groups of year 6 pupils took it in turns to sing the verses of ‘Skye Boat Song’ very expressively.

Isaac Bousfield provided an ostinato accompaniment to ‘Calypso’ on his trombone and helped the choir to another first place.

Christina Thomson, adjudicator, said: “Well Done! A varied programme, showing off all your talents.”
