Your article: Science fun at Pocklington school

  • by Emily Frankish

Lyndhurst School’s Year 5 had fun this week learning all about seed dispersal taking part in an ‘explosive dispersal’ activity. They learnt all about the purpose of plants spreading their seeds far and wide in order to reduce competition between the growing plant and its parent.

The children filled two balloons with hole punch confetti and inflated the balloons, then went outside to watch the exploding balloons.

Year 5 pupil Charlotte said: “It was really fun and when it burst, everyone was a bit shocked.”

Lizzie said: “I had to put my fingers in Charlotte’s ears so it wouldn’t hurt her ears - it was really fun.”

Eleanor commented: “It reminded me of a wedding.”
