Congratulations to Year 10 pupil Emily Crockford who competed in the National Open Shotokan Karate Championships at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena.
She demonstrated the skill, discipline and determination to win a silver medal for Team Kumite, age 14-15, and the bronze medal for Individual Kumite, age 14-15. Kumite is the sparring or ‘fighting’ part of karate.
Emily has been practicing karate for just three-and-a-half years and has progressed through the grades quickly. She is now 1st kyu, one grade from black belt and puts a lot of time and effort into her Shotokan training. Emily has only been competing in the last eighteen months and has already won two gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medal in that time.
