A school cook has served up lunch at Pocklington Community Junior School for the last time after more than 30 years of feeding hungry children.
Sue Woolfitt has retired as cook in charge at Pocklington Community Junior School.
Working to recipe books provided by the school meals service, the menu initially focused on ‘good old fashioned food’ such as steak and kidney puddings, but since then it has developed with ‘more salads and healthy foods’.
After cooking her final Christmas party meal, a favourite of the children’s, Sue commented that usually chip day was one of the most popular with the children, along with roast chicken and roast potatoes.
