Year 6 pupils at Pocklington Community Junior School took part in an activity day at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park, which involved a number of exciting team challenges.
As a result of this they are creating their own Team Challenge Day in school before the end of the academic year.
Two of the children from year 6, Flo and Saffie, have given an account of the brilliant day they had:
“Allerthorpe Challenge Day was a great confidence building activity day. Personally, we enjoyed the island activity, where we transported our team from one side of the lake to the other. It was a fun communication activity. Despite many people falling in, it was extremely enjoyable. The leaders, who explained and guided us through each challenge, were very nice and supportive, as well as providing safety gear for all of us children.”
“After the first two activities, the year group gathered together to enjoy a delicious lunch, then continued on to the next and last two tasks. With determination, in our allocated teams, we co-operated to successfully to complete the tough challenges, whether we won or not. One child even said ‘It was the second best day of my life.’
“Overall, everybody thoroughly appreciated this incredible adventure and the whole day was particularly wonderful. All pupils were exceedingly grateful that the school could generously give up their time to transport us to Allerthorpe and provide such an exquisite visit”.
The school offer a range of educational visits to as many different activities as possible to enhance the curriculum of each year group and a huge amount of thought when planning is put into finding the most suitable activities for the children.
