Budding journalists at a Pocklington school are ready to launch their own newspaper, after Post reporter Daniel Willers paid them a visit.

Children in years four and five at Pocklington Community Junior School are spearheading the project, with the help of year six teacher Alyson Phillipps.

Year five pupils William, Christopher, Angelica, Charlie and Adam, along with Chloe and Isabelle, both in year four, are hoping to produce their first edition of the paper before Christmas.

Post reporter Daniel visited the school last Thursday to discuss the group’s plans and was impressed by their ideas and enthusiasm.

Each member of the group has their own responsibilities after taking on newspaper roles. The group has an editor, deputy editor, reporters, photographer and proofreader.

Among their ideas is to include quiz, history, and birthday pages, as well as news and sports
stories.

The group hope to produce one edition of ‘The School Times’ paper each term with the help of other pupils at the school.
