A science day at a Pocklington primary school went off with a bang recently.

Pupils at Newlands School Yorkshire made rockets with the help of a doctor who visited the school for the event.

The children decorated Lemonade bottles, and after filling them with water and pumping them with air, set them off.

The school also welcomed sixth form students from Woldgate College who conducted a few experiments with different chemicals, which wowed youngsters at Newlands.

Caroline Campbell, from the primary school, said: “They had a whale of a time , they loved it.

“It was very interesting. The children from Woldgate were wonderful.”
