Pocklington Infant School pupils celebrate World Book Day

Fantasy became reality last week as school pupils from across Pocklington and the surrounding area celebrated World Book Day.

Youngsters donned costumes based on their favourite story book characters and brought their favourite books into school to celebrate the importance of reading.

Local schools that marked the event include Pocklington Infant, Newlands School Yorkshire in Pocklington, Mount Pleasant Junior in Market Weighton, Stamford Bridge Primary and Barmby Moor Primary.

Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, the day is marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

See this Thursday’s new-style Pocklington Post (13 March) for more World Book Day pictures.
