The Market Weighton School (TMWS) is preparing to mark its landmark 60th anniversary next term, with pupils set to receive new look uniforms to mark the occasion.
A series of activities is planned for the autumn term and the student council has been looking into the history of the school logo and how it can be updated.
A timeline of the school’s history is also being produced and house leaders for each of TMWS’s four houses are to be re-introduced.
The new school uniform, featuring a logo emblazoned blazer and tie will be given to all students.
Gavin Chappell, headteacher at the Market Weighton School, said: “One of the clear messages that our student council have consistently given us over the last few months is that they would value a change in the way they are seen in the local community and in the way they feel about the clothes they wear when representing the school.
“The students see blazers and ties as a smarter, more aspirational uniform than the current sweatshirts.”
