The Headteacher: Starting the journey to university

For thousands of young adults the last couple of weekends will have marked a significant turning point in their lives.

This is because somewhere in the region of 500,000 of them have crammed their parents’ cars with bedding, clothing and a cornucopia of kitchen equipment they can scarcely name, let alone use, in order to go and share accommodation with people that they have never met before and who will turn out to be either obnoxious bores or unshakeable lifetime friends in equal measure.

This journey, to start university, is one that more and more of our students have made in recent years.
