A pirate-themed summer fair was held at Pocklington Infant School to raise funds for a new pirate ship on the school playground.

The event last Friday featured games such as walk the plank, hunt the shark and a treasure hunt to keep youngsters entertained.

There was also face painting, a tombola and BBQ. As well as pupils from the school, parents and friends also attended the event, which raised more than £1,100 towards a new pirate ship.

A spokesperson for the school said: “It was a superb event. The sun was shining and there was a brilliant atmosphere.

“It was really well supported by parents and friends.”
