Two students have been recognised for their hard work after receiving Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards.
Rachel White, from Full Sutton, and Lois Gilbertson, from Wilberfoss, both 21, were invited to St James’s Palace in London to collect the accolade.
The Gold Award has five sections, including volunteering (service), recreational, learn a new skill, residential and expedition.
Rachel said: “Although it takes time and commitment, it is a well-deserved award to gain, and we would not have had any other opportunity to go to the palace. You learn a wide range of skills, which I would not have learnt otherwise. I recommend all young people interested to take part in the award.”
Rachel is a student at York St John University while Lois studies at the University of York.
