Staff and pupils at a village school have been praised after a recent inspection.
Bugthorpe Primary School has been rated as “securely good and improving” in all areas, following a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) inspection. The assessment highlighted that overall “children learn in a climate of care and trust derived from Christian values. They achieve well and develop a high spiritual maturity nurtured through their religious education and collective worship.”
Headteacher Angela Ekers said: “We are a closely knit team, as many schools are, and are delighted that the inspection recognises that many elements of our life at school combine to create a successful education for our children.”
The National Society commented that the children’s behaviour and biblical dimension of collective worship is becoming outstanding, and it has given some targets to help the school move closer to outstanding across all areas.
