A charity has launched a new playgroup in Market Weighton.

The playgroup is based at The Wellbeing Centre, on York Road, and aims to introduce basic music skills, singing skills, and social skills to pre-schoolers, babies, toddlers and young children with their parents, carers, or childminders.

Each one-hour session consists of singing, and music-making with various instruments, led by a professional musician, and it ends with a drink and a snack.

Beverley-based charity Music Time, which has formed the playgroup, is run by parent volunteers.

One of the volunteers, Gil van der Sluis, said: “After going to Music Time for a year or so, I have seen my toddler grow in confidence, due to the encouragements, social interaction, and enjoyment experienced during our weekly Music Time sessions. We both love our weekly sessions.”

Each first Music Time session is free, and suitable for children between the ages of 0-4-years-old. There is a free car park next to the Wellbeing Being Centre.
