SPRING was in full swing at a Pocklington school, as young chicks hatched to give the tots some cracking excitement.
The nine new additions were part of an egg theme that children at St Mary and St Joseph primary school have been studying in recent weeks.
They received the eggs from the Living Eggs programme along with the hatching box and brooder unit.
Head teacher Jayne Wilson said: “We got them on the Monday and they started hatching the very next day! We had 12 eggs and nine hatched. We kept them in the brooder in the hallway so the children could keep an eye on them, measuring them and looking after them.
“They enjoyed it immensely and they were very sad to see them go, although they have gone to families of the children at the school so we will be able to track their progress.”
