Plans to build a new early years classroom at a primary school have been approved despite objections from Sports England.
Barmby Moor Primary School will be able to build a new single-storey, early years classroom.
Sports England objected to the plans as the school would lose open land and sports facilities. The application had received reccommended approval ahead of the western area planning sub-committee held on 17 May.
Alan Menzies, director of planning and economic regeneration, said: “The proposal will not involve the loss of any open space, sports or recreational land available for the use of the community.”
Although there would be a “small decrease” in the playing fields available for the school, it would not be “detrimental” to the current provision.
