A special exhibition is being held at a local art gallery to mark the retirement of a long-serving teacher at Pocklington School.

Head of art Pete Edwards is retiring after 33 years’ teaching at the school and, to celebrate this, the Art & Rose Gallery, in Market Street asked Mr Edwards to organise an exhibition for his Year 7 art class.

The theme of the exhibition is ‘flowers’ and has coincided with an exhibition called ‘down the garden’ at the gallery.

The colourful paintings went on display on Wednesday 3 July and were only supposed to be on show for three days. However, the exhibition has received such a great response that the gallery has kept the paintings on display over the past week, and they can be viewed until this weekend.
