Youngsters at Barmby Moor Primary School felt like kings and queens of the castle during a day of fun-filled activities.

Children in Years 1 and 2 at the school have been learning about the history of castles and how they have changed as part of their ‘I am king or queen of the castle’ topic.

Youngsters brought in their own costumes for the day of fun-filled activities, which included king and queen dancing, making banners out of fabric, designing their own family crest, a jousting competition and a banquet.

Children from Garton-on-the-Wolds Primary School, which formed a collaboration with Barmby Moor Primary in 2012, also took part in the activities.

Hannah Bailey, Year 1 and 2 teacher at Barmby Moor Primary, said: “The children absolutely loved it. They were as high as kites when leaving at the end of the day.”
