Donations of electrical items at Derbyshire supermarket

UNWANTED electrical items were donated by Sainsbury’s customers in Dronfield.

The event was organised by Derbyshire County Council and the YMCA’s New2U furniture project.

More than 100 items were donated, includionh vacuum cleaners, printers, microwaves and fans.

New2U breathes new life into old electricals and is sold from a showroom on Station Lane industrial estate, Old Whittington, Chesterfield.

Coun John Allsop, council cabinet member for recycling and technology, said: “Furniture reuse charities are a great way for people to give their working electricals a new home.

“They also divert usable items from landfill, saving the council money and help people on low incomes create homes to be proud of.”
