DEVELOPERS have been granted more time to start work on a new care home in Pocklington.
Peter Winn Tyres Ltd originally secured permission from East Riding of Yorkshire Council in 2008 to build a sheltered accommodation facility on part of the firm’s site on Garths End, but it has yet to get under way.
The delays meant the planning approval expired and the company were forced to reapply to the authority for a three-year extension to the time initially allowed for the development to begin, which planners have now agreed to.
The original plans for the site were adjusted after being deemed too large.
The sheltered housing complex will consist of 30 rooms within a part two-storey and part three-storey building, with a communal lounge and dining room, facilities for staff and caretakers and 16 parking spaces.
