A direct descendant of the Viking king Harald Hardrada, who died during the 1066 Battle of Stamford Bridge, will be taking part in this year’s re-enactment of the famous battle over the weekend.

Jarl Gunnar Olafsson will be travelling all the way from Iceland to take part in the annual event, being held on the Cricket Field, on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be re-enactments of the battle on both days, which a large number of re-enactors are expected to take part in.
