Cyclist, 78, critical after collison with bus

A 78-year-old man from Market Weighton is fighting for his life after being in a collision with a bus while out riding his bike.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened on Holme Road, Market Weighton, at around 1pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the incident which involved a red single decker bus.

A police spokesperson said the bus and cyclist were both travelling along Holme Road in the direction towards Market Weighton.

The spokesperson added: “The cyclist, a 78-year-old Market Weighton man, was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious, and what are thought to be life-threatening, injuries. He remains in a critical condition.”

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 223 27/03/2015.
