Speeder escapes a ban

A MOTORIST escaped a ban after he was caught speeding last month.

David Raikes of Wold Farm, Kilnwick Percy, was taken to court after he was found to be breaking the 30mph limit along the A1079 at Beverley, while behind the wheel of a Fiat Stilo.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty and was at Beverley Magistrates’ Court where he was fined £115 and told to pay £40 costs, a £15 surcharge and given three penalty points.

He was not disqualified because of exceptional hardship - that he would be forced to give up his job because of commuting distance and the need to drive at work.
