THREE members of a family were brought before the courts to answer charges of animal cruelty.
Melanie Ann Tasker (51), Steven Tasker (55) and Victoria Rosalie Warwick Tasker (22), all of Holme Road in Market Weighton, were each charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a female pony, failing to provide the appropriate care and maintenance of its hooves which resulted in a leg wound.
All pleading guilty at Beverley Magistrates’ Court, Melanie was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for a year and told to carry out 220 hours of community service.
Steven was also ordered to do 220 hours of community service, while Victoria was handed 180 hours.
An order was given to all three banning them from keeping equines, Steven and Victoria for five years and Melanie for ten years.
