SPENDING a day with snakes, spiders and snails may not appeal to most of us, but children from the Lyndhurst Day Nursery had a whale of a time meeting all manner of creepy crawlies.

The school was visited by Cath from the ‘Zoo Lab’ who took along a variety of exotic insects and reptiles to show the children.

The youngsters listened to an educational talk about the creatures before getting the chance to handle tarantulas, corn snakes and giant snails, among other creepy characters.

Day Nursery manager Ann Lyon said the youngsters relished the chance to get close to the creatures.

“They absolutely loved it,” she said.

“Some were a little bit wary, but they really enjoyed learning about the insects and holding them if they wanted to.

“It is great to show the children different kinds of insects and creatures instead of the traditional animals.”
