Members of a local National Farmers’ Union branch showcased their best crops at a recent competition.

The Union’s Pocklington, Holme and Market Weighton branch holds a Crop Competition every year.

The trophies for this year’s contest were presented at the branch dinner, held at The Oaks Golf Club, Aughton.

Mary Foster, group secretary of the branch, said: “We had a very high standard of entries and it was very difficult for the judges to make a decision. Due to the popularity of people growing maize nowadays, it was the first time we had the maize category in the competition.”

She added: “Many thanks to Richard Bramley for judging the crops and Dennis Sawyer for judging the cattle and maize.”
