Crash inquest adjourned

AN 81-YEAR-OLD man who died following a crash at Dunnington swerved into the path of a lorry, it has been heard.

Kenneth Green was seriously injured when his Ford Focus was involved in a collision with a green tipper truck on the A1079 on Tuesday, 24 May.

The pensioner was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary, but died two days later.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.

York coroner Donald Coverdale said, based on the information he had received so far, there had been “some concern” about the manner of Mr Green’s driving before the crash, which happened just after 6.35am.

The lorry was heading towards York at the time and Mr Green, who Mr Coverdale said had been described as “a fit man for his age,” suffered multiple injuries in the collision.

A post mortem examination has been carried out and the inquest adjourned until a later date to allow funeral arrangements to be made.
