Two former vicars will cycle 400 miles in a fundraising challenge to mark their 70th birthdays.

Tony and Pam Burdon, who retired to Pocklington in 2011, will cycle from Berlin to Copenhagen in 10 days at the beginning of next month to raise funds for Hand in Hand for Syria.

To mark their 70th birthdays the pair hope to raise £7,000 for the charity.

Pam Burdon said: “We have done sponsored bike rides before, one in Holland a few years ago and one in West Scotland. The support we have received has been terrific.”

They have already passed the half way mark, at £3,612, including a £400 donation from Pocklington Junior School. To donate visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tony-Pam-Burdon.
