East Riding councillors have had their say on Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s proposals to save £2.1million with budget cuts looming.

At a specially convened scrutiny meeting, the proposals by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were presented to members of East Riding Council’s safer and stronger communities overview and scrutiny sub-committee by chief fire officers. The service is consulting with the public on a range of options, which include removing one fire engine from Market Weighton or Brough. However, councillors chose to support the option to merge Immingham East and West fire stations.
