Taxpayers in Market Weighton will face a slightly bigger bill from the town council this year.

Market Weighton Town Council has decided to increase its precept for the financial year 2015-16, which will see an average band D household in the town paying £71.08, instead of the £67.20 they paid for the year 2014-15. This is an increase of £3.88.

Mayor of Market Weighton, councillor Marian Frith, said: “We have not put it up for specific purposes, it’s just the way the figures have worked out. You sit down and work out what you have to spend. That is how it came out. I think it is a fair amount.”
