The Market Weighton School’s annual half marathon walk took place on Friday 23 September with the majority of students taking part.

In recent years it has become traditional for Year 11 students to complete the walk in fancy dress and we saw some wonderful costumes this year!

The four charities which the school will be supporting this academic year, as nominated by our students, are:

l Cancer Research

l The British Heart Foundation

l Yorkshire Air Ambulance

50% of money raised by each House will go to their chosen charity and 50% will be used to develop/improve areas of the school (selected by the Student Council).

The walk provides an important opportunity for all members of the school community to engage in a shared experience; allowing students of different year groups to integrate and for students and teachers to mix in a less formal way.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the walk, the weather was perfect, and the students were a credit to themselves and their families.

Several individual students raised a significant amount of money which will give us a great start of several hundred pounds for each House charity.
