Three Pocklington town councillors are jumping on the saddle next week as they cycles coast to coast to raise money for the mayor’s charities.
Councillor Paul West and partner Claire Hamilton, Couns Dave Whittaker and partner Christeena Sutcliffe and Couns Jeff Sheppherd aim to complete the 170 mile route from Morcambe to Bridlington in four days.
Although the mayor Ann Cox will not be taking part her partner Nigel Rowley will be joining the councillors on the challenge.
Councillor Ann Cox, said: “I think they are all very brave, with the exception of Paul I don’t think any of them have done anything like this before.
“They have been training every Sunday and hopefully they’ll raise around £1,000 for the charities.
“Maybe if everything goes well I’ll join them next year and raise money for somebody else’s charity.”
All the money raised from the ride this Friday, will go towards the charities Pocklington Relief and the Pocklington Playpark Committee.
