Almost £1,700 has been raised by the United Services Club in Pocklington in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
The club, on Waterloo Square, raises funds for a different charity every year. This year, club members helped raise £1,685 after holding a race night, cake stall, raffle and other fundraising activities. Sandra Stubbins, who led the fundraising, said: “We are pleased with the funds raised, we do what we can, when we can.
“We have had lots of helpers, so many who baked for us.” She added: “This year we decided to raise funds for Prostate Cancer. We have done it for Macmillan nurses and Yorkshire Air Ambulance in the past.”
