Youngsters from the area showed off some of their best dance moves to raise funds for a children’s charity.
Community dance school Starbrite Dancentre held several dance and wiggle sessions recently, which attracted about 60 pre-school children at its studios in Shiptonthorpe and York.
Sponsorship money from those who took part in the event will go towards Happy Days Children’s Charity, which raises money to provide families who have children with life limiting disabilities the chance to have days out, respite care and holidays.
Leanne Frear, manager of the Shiptonthorpe Starbrite studio, said: “It went really well.
“The children absolutely loved it. They had a really good time.”
Among those who took part in a sponsored dance and wiggle were youngsters from Little Bears Day Nursery in Shiptonthorpe, who attend classes at Starbrite every Wednesday.
Kirstie Wood, a supervisor from the nursery, commented: “The children really enjoy there weekly sessions and are gaining a good knowledge of the world as well as valuable role play experience and physical activity.
“We hope to have raised a nice sum of money for Happy Days Children’s Charity and we would like to say a big thank you to all of those involved.”
