Humberside Police chief constable Justine Curran has moved to reassure residents in Pocklington and the surrounding area that crime will not increase despite the radical changes to the force.

Ch Con Curran could not confirm whether or not the police station on Pocklington’s George Street would close and if police services in the town would be relocated, but says it could make more sense for services in some communities to be moved into council offices or doctors’ surgeries.

Humberside Police is axing 200 officer posts and 500 civilian jobs, including about 40 PCSOs, as part of its plan to save £31m by 2019.
