Charity bikers event raised more than £2,200 for cancer organisations

Dean’s Garden Centre, Stockton on The Forest, 6th Charity Bikers was a great success, the total raised on the night for Charities of the Year York against Cancer & Yorkshire Cancer Research was £2213 to date.

Around 280 + bikers and over 80 car drivers attended during the evening, including 70 that set off from Dean’s Garden Centre at Scarborough, as part of an organised ride by Kilham Wednesday Night Bikers.

There were around 40 Classic bikes in attendance with a Norton owned by Mr G Johnson, winning the trophy for the best on display and the best modern bike was a Triumph Speed Triple owned by Simon Gilson of Driffield. Lovers of Classic bikes were also able to visit the Craven Collection situated just across the road from Dean’s, which has on display over 250 motorcycles and other memorabilia, many thanks to Dick Craven for opening on the evening.

Thanks to all those who helped on the night, businesses that donated prizes and of course everyone who attended, including local motorcycle racing stars of the future Jamie & Luke Thackeray, (94 & 95) James Cowton (52) & Mick Grant (10), hillclimb and sprint riders Sam Mathewman, Pete Smith & Chris Grailly with their racing bikes.

The money raised came from a combination of sales of food and drink from the Bothy Coffee Shop, tombola, and donations.
