A community facility which has helped thousands of people in and around Market Weighton is in danger of closing unless more funding can be found and more volunteers come forward to offer a helping hand.

The Life Centre, on Market Weighton’s High Street, has been running an initiative called ‘The Heart of Community Living’ since 2011, which has provided a range of projects and activities to support the needs of the community.

To mark the end of the project’s funding of £340,000 from the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund, a celebration was held at The Life Centre last Friday, which was attended by trustees and past and present volunteers of The Life Centre, as well as Market Weighton mayor, councillor Marian Frith.
