Voluntary youth organisations across the region are celebrating after receiving grants at a ceremony hosted by the East Riding of Yorkshire youth and family support service.

Positive Activity Grants totalling £72,000 were awarded to youth organisations by the chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Peter Turner, at a ceremony at County Hall in Beverley.

Kevin Hall, the council’s director of children, families and schools, said: “I am delighted to report that this year we are able to support 28 groups in total, 11 of which are completely new youth groups are projects.”

Among the recipients of grants were: 2020 Community Sport CIC Ltd, £5,000 for a new initiative to provide sports activities to young people in Pocklington and £1,000 to All Stars Plus Pocklington, to encourage and promote independence, healthy living and emotional well being of young people.
