Campaigners fear a pedestrian will have to be killed before a crossing is installed on a “dangerous” and increasingly busy road which passes through their village.

The parish council and villagers in Shiptonthorpe have been calling for a pedestrian crossing to be installed on the A1079 in Shiptonthorpe for years. They claim residents in the village struggle to get from one side to the other in order to access the Spar shop at the BP filling station, McDonald’s and Ve Raj restaurants, Langlands Garden Centre, cemetery and bus stop.
