A donation inspired by a community-minded customer has helped a nursery which works with adults with learning difficulties and disabilities replace their stolen tools.

Mires Beck Nursery in North Cave has received £1,999 from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to buy new wheelbarrows, spades, forks and other equipment.

The charity was nominated for the grant by the Yorkshire’s local agency in Market Weighton, based at Chris Clubley and Co’s The Mortgage Advice Centre.

Agency manager Jane Lowther said: “When I heard about their tools being stolen I knew we would be able to help.

“Mires Beck Nursery is a wonderful charity which allows people with learning difficulties the chance to learn new skills and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of horticulture.”
