The team at a brewery which started out in Pocklington raised a glass – to themselves – after one of its tipples was crowned UK Supreme Champion.

It earned the Supreme National Champion Cask Beer accolade for its ‘Burnout’ beech-smoked porter at the Society of Independent Brewers’ (SIBA) BeerX National Beer Competition.

Brass Castle also scooped a gold medal for its Sunshine IPA bottled beer, as well as a SIBA Business Award for ‘Best Community Support.’

Aron McMahon, of Brass Castle Brewery, said, “We are very proud of our beers and over-the-moon to have them recognised on a national stage.”

The brewery is now based in Malton, but began life in a garage on Brass Castle Hill in Pocklington in 2011.
