Melbourne Methodist Church members, friends and family filled 59 shoeboxes for the elderly and families with gifts and love for the LINK HOPE Shoebox Appeal 2015.

The shoeboxes will make their way to the people of Eastern Europe well before Christmas.

The boxes will be taken to Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

The LINK HOPE charity is dedicated to rebuilding lives and communities in Eastern Europe by supporting education and social care projects.

Melbourne Church has been involved with this charity since 1991.

A spokesperson for the church said: “We were overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity this year and would like to thank them all for their continued support and fantastic effort this year.

“A dedication service for the boxes was led by Joyce Simpson with tea to follow, including jelly and ice cream for the Awesome Club children who kindly helped us.”
