Bonfire Night went off with a bang in Pocklington as hundreds of people descended on West Green to see the night sky lit up in style.
About 1,500 people gathered to see the bonfire and spectacular firework display. There were also children’s rides, burgers, hot dogs, jacket potatoes, soup and hot drinks available on the evening.
The event is believed to have raised about £1,000 for the Pocklington mayor councillor Paul West’s two chosen charities - Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre and Young People Count.
Coun West said: “It went very well. The West Green was absolutely jam-packed. It was a fantastic fireworks display by Ardent Fireworks [on Pocklington’s Industrial Estate], they did a cracking job.”
Bonfire Night events have taken place across the region, including Wilberfoss, and there was a fireworks extravaganza at The KP Club in Kilnwick Percy.
