THE irony of the recent icy conditions was captured on film by a local man out for a walk in Melbourne.

Paul Whitworth was taking a walk around Pocklington Canal when he came across this boat, with its name ‘Just Chillin’, as it sat moored at the frozen Melbourne Arm, an offshoot of the canal.

Mr Whitworth, who is from Holme-on-Spalding Moor, explained: “I was in Melbourne because I’m a volunteer driver for the Beverley Community Lift buses and I take old ladies from Pocklington and Barmby Moor over to Melbourne to play bingo.

“So while they are playing at the village hall I tend to go for a walk - there are many good paths around Melbourne - and was astonished to come across this scene.

“Fortunately I had my camera with me and saw the humour of the boat name. The actual canal looked clear but the Melbourne Arm was well frozen over.”
