RESIDENTS are being warned to be vigilant after an attempted burglary near Pocklington town centre.
Overnight between Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September, an unsuccessful attempt was made to enter a house on South Parade, The Balk, with the offenders first attempting to climb up to a first-floor window and then breaking a lock at the house at the rear of the premises.
Sergeant Pete Rogers of Pocklington Police said: “Please can everyone be aware of this incident as it is the first attempted domestic burglary we have had in our area for some time. Fortunately, this house was secure. However, this incident highlights the fact that offenders are in our area and the necessity of ensuring that doors and windows are secure in houses when unattended.”
Anyone with information is being urged to call police on 0845 60 60 222.
