Pocklington Arts Centre has received a financial boost to offer a more diverse programme of events.

The venue has been awarded a £3,000 audience development grant from Filmhub North, which will see the venue programme an increased number of specialist film (foreign language, documentary and shorts) screenings, film related workshops and host a short series of guest speakers in the next 12 months.

In addition to this funding, the arts centre was awarded a bursary to attend the Independent Cinema Office’s flagship Spring Screening event at the British Film Institute on the Southbank in London. The event will see 25 arthouse and independent titles screened, with attendees getting to meet and exchange ideas and best practice with peers, exhibitor organisations and distributors.

James Duffy, assistant manager at the arts centre, said: “We are delighted to have received this award from Filmhub North. The project will enable the venue to offer a more diverse and cultural programme of events.

“We will launch a marketing campaign prior to the project starting, which is intended to generate public interest and increase awareness of the forthcoming events. The main aim of this audience development project is to attract new and existing customers to a series of screenings and events throughout the next year.”

Film Hub North is part of the British Film Institute Film Audience
Network.
