AN ARTIST from our region brushed aside the competition to scoop two prestigious awards at a recent exhibition in London.

Catherine E Inglis enjoyed the double delight at the Society of Women Artists’ 150th Celebratory Exhibition, which was opened by HRH Princess Michael of Kent.

The society was founded in 1955 to help create opportunities to women artists to display and sell their art.

Catherine, who is from Skirpenbeck, is a professional artist who works with predominantly soft pastels and is known for her detailed wildlife paintings.

She exhibited two original pastels at the exhibition with ‘Grooming Hare’ taking the Frank Herring and Sons Easel Award, and ‘Catnnels retrievers’- a study of four life-size golden retrievers, which landed the Jackson’s People’s Choice award.

Catherine, who is a founder member of East Riding Artists said: “I am extremely delighted to have won the awards at this major exhibition in London.”
