Appeal for witnesses after man dies in road crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in which a young Bishop Wilton man died.

The accident happened on the A166 between Stamford Bridge and Garrowby Hill at around 7.20pm on Monday.

A silver Citroen Saxo was travelling on the A166 towards Stamford Bridge in the direction of Fridaythorpe, when it was in collision with a silver Mercedes Vito, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Citroen Saxo, a 20-year-old man from Bishop Wilton sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 43-year-old man from Dumfries was treated for injuries to his shoulder and cuts and bruises. A 30-year-old male passenger in the vehicle, also from Dumfries was treated for minor injuries.
